Snowboarding is becoming a brilliant, vibrant, community. Let’s keep this rolling. Made in collaboration with Vans, this film offers a snapshot of...
Anyone who’s been paying attention knows everything Jake Kuzyk does has attention to detail. The tricks, the spots, the style, the footage that makes the cut–it’s all part of a larger plan. It has to be ‘just so’, it’s why everything he touches turns to gold. No exceptions made for his new Vans Hi-Standard OG Boot. The skate influenced styled boot is paired with an all-black Jake Kuzyk II all-weather MTE windbreaker, and his take on the Style 36 shoe. The collection is understated with more than meets the eye details. We caught up quickly with Jake to talk about what’s best with the Vans Hi-Standard OG boot. You can cop the drop at Vans Snow dealers and at vans.ca/snow.
Why is this boot best for you? What do you like about it?
I love looking down at these snow boots. Always good colours. They move when you need them too, but always stay tight.
Do you ever mess with BOA? Or swear by laces?
Laces only for me.
Are they stiffer or softer? What’s the break-in period?
Medium feeling boot. It feels really nice straight away. I don’t ever worry about wearing a new pair.
Who would you recommend these boots for?
Someone looking for a less aggressive boot that lets you move around. But doesn’t feel like a marshmallow.
Montréal, QC. (October 15, 2020) – Vans’ best-selling snowboard boot of all time has joined forces once again with one of our most innovative, forward-thinking snow team riders, Jake Kuzyk, to create this season’s Hi-Standard OG boot.
Continuing to set the bar for classic style and modern performance, the Hi-Standard OG received critical input from Jake, including his signature treatment in a moonbeam and black colorway that carries across a supporting collection of footwear and apparel. The feature-packed update to the boot includes V1 Ultracush Liner for comfort, warmth, and support, as well as V1 PopCush — a 3D-molded, anatomically shaped and PU-blended footbed that makes the boot fit and feel better than ever before.
The V1 Waffle Lug outsole delivers a classic Vans vulcanized look to the snow while maintaining superior performance and traction. With a flex rating of 4-5, the Hi-Standard OG is designed for all-mountain and park/street riding, combining dynamic support, unfiltered boardfeel, and unrestricted mobility.
Supporting the Hi-Standard OG is the signature all-black Jake Kuzyk II, a 100% nylon, all-weather MTE windbreaker with storm flap, hook-and-loop cuffs, and hidden hook-and-loop pocket details, as well as the Style 36 Jake Kuzyk in moonbeam/black. Made with deconstructed textile and suede uppers for a fresh new take on this iconic silhouette, the Style 36 also features UltraCush insoles for modern comfort, and classic rubber waffle outsoles.
Known for his heavily skate-influenced style, Jake Kuzyk’s creative eye for spots —and his deep bag of tricks to bring them to life—have helped cement his place in snowboarding. Jake landed the coveted closing part of Vans’ first-ever full-length snowboard film, LANDLINE, a momentous feat for a film that captivated the industry with next level riding and innovative, artistic filming. With many more years of ripping yet to come, Jake’s influence on the Hi-Standard OG boot and Vans Snow DNA are a welcome force driving the brand forward.
