BE PREPARED | KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

With winter upon us, and early season snow layers creating potential uncertainty and instability in the mountains, it's time for a friendly reminder about avalanche danger. To assist, The American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education has teamed up with the Utah Avalanche Center and the Colorado Avalanche Information Center to create Know Before You Go, a free avalanche awareness program that you can learn more about online and by following on Facebook.

As part of their noble campaign, they’ve released an incredibly intense and informative video that dramatically recreates an avalanche incident, which we encourage any of you who are planning on venturing out into the backcountry this winter to watch. In addition, in order to know before you go, be sure to get the proper gear, learn how to use it, take an avalanche training course, and ask to practice with friends who are more experienced than you. It could make the difference between one of the best or worst days in the backcountry, and life and death.

On behalf of all of us at King Snow, stay safe this winter.
