MICRO | FULL MOVIE

micro is a way of being.

micro might look antithetical to other snowboard videos, but that wasn’t really done on purpose. We weren’t trying to be different, we were just trying to lean into what it means to be ourselves, and this is what developed.

The only rules we set for micro were loose ones: No drop-ins, no bungees, no winches. We're not against those things ... we just don't own any of them.

We usually only had a two person crew, so if one person was going to film, then the other needed to find speed on his own. We gravitated towards large piles of snow, bulldozed in parking lots. We would let those snow piles dictate our spots, and our trick selection.

I think there was a lot of freedom in those limitations.

We were trying to make a video that fit into our lifestyles. We live in a relatively large urban centre. We have cars, we have shovels, but we have no pressure...outside of normal life commitments. I mean honestly, the simplicity of micro allowed us to get shots and still get to work, or birthdays, or school. I think that integration of life is what is so exciting to me about riding small things - it makes snowboarding sustainable as we get older. For Will and I this short film is more of a mission statement than anything. It reminds us how much fun we can have when we just focus on the weird niche/charming side of snowboarding we love the most.
