The Royal Boardshop’s four-day movie festival that went down in Calgary, AB, Oct. 3-6 at the Plaza Theatre in Kensington was just what the Calgary shred scene ordered and in time for the snow that is currently hitting the Rockies as you read this.
The cherry popper of the festival, Videograss’ Darkside and Enlighten got the stoke started on Wednesday, where peeps also got their hands on some sweet, sweet treats, courtesy of yours truly King Snow, K2, ThirtyTwo, Dragon, Stance, Vans, Herd Headwear and Coal.
The second night, TGR’s Further, the sequel to Deeper, visually accosted a sold-out crowd delivering a display of epic awesomeness. So many people rolled out that night that they were sitting is the aisles of the place.
Friday, Absinthe’s Resonance was up to deliver, showcasing to a once again packed house and assaulting all senses while having super-fave Nicolas Mueller and Bodie Merrill on hand to help stoke out the crowd, sign autographs and give away a Salomon Villain—Bodie’s board of choice.
Saturday night, the grande finale of the festival, YES it’s Movie Too was featured at two showings with DCP, Helen Schettini and Romain De Marchi onsite to up the ante of gnar in Cowtown. Once again, in YES fashion, lap dances ensued followed by a night of crazy at the good ol’ Cowboys—a bar in a league all its own. We know you know what we’re talking about here…
All in all the flicks were bad ass, with far too many stand-out parts to mention, but do yourself a favour and get your sticky lil hands on a copy for yourself and get stoked.
Big props to Royal Boardshop for hosting the event; Davie Birnie from Timebomb Trading, Taylor Ricci from K2, John Brabbins from NoLimits, Alex Forbes from Vans Canada, and Inga Eilertsen from Herd Headwear for hooking up the goodies! Also, to all of you who got your hands on a copy of our uber-bad ass King Snow Gear Guide, you’re welcome.
